Rocky pine-covered coastline of Skopelos

Milia beach

Milia is widely considered Skopelos’s best all-round beach: the longest on the island, with white sand mixed with pebble and a wide, open bay facing the small islet of Dassia offshore. Its size means it rarely feels as cramped as some of the smaller, more famous coves nearby, even at the height of summer.

The vibe

Pine-covered hills frame the beach on both sides, and a row of rocks at the centre splits it into two halves — a busier, more organised section to one side and a quieter stretch to the other. It’s a serious contender for the best sunset spot on the island, and many visitors return to the same stretch of sand evening after evening just for that view.

Access and parking

About 14km from Skopelos Town and a similar distance from Glossa, reached via a sealed road off the main coastal route. Parking is available but fills up by late morning in peak season. The local summer bus also stops within a short walk of the beach.

Amenities

Sunbeds, umbrellas, a beach bar, and water-sports rentals including kayaks and SUP boards on the busier half of the beach; the quieter side has space to spread out with your own setup. A taverna midway along the beach is known locally for lobster dishes.

Best time

Arrive by mid-morning in July and August for parking and space; the long bay means even a moderately busy day rarely feels packed, and the western-facing shoreline makes for some of the best sunset viewing on the island.

Nearby route

Kastani is roughly 1km south, making it easy to combine both beaches in a single outing.
