Panormos, Skopelos
Panormos sits roughly halfway along Skopelos’s west coast, about 12km from Skopelos Town, where a sheltered pebble beach meets a small but well-equipped seafront village. It is one of the island’s most organised and reliably calm swimming spots, set in a bay that holds up well even when wind disrupts the more exposed beaches.
The vibe
Panormos runs on beach time. Tavernas and rooms cluster around the bay, sunbeds line the pebble shore, and the pace is set by whoever’s swimming and whoever’s eating lunch. It has more infrastructure than most Skopelos beaches without ever feeling overbuilt or tipping into resort territory. The name itself, meaning roughly ‘sheltered harbour’ in Greek, reflects the calm, enclosed character of the bay.

Who it suits
This spot is perfect for travellers prioritising the beach over the town atmosphere, or those looking for a dependable choice when other coasts are too rough. It also appeals to anyone who prefers eating dinner practically at the waterline over the busier harbourfront scene in Chora.
Access and parking
Situated on the main coast road between Skopelos Town and Glossa, Panormos offers straightforward parking near the beach and a regular summer bus stop. The drive from Chora takes roughly 20–25 minutes.
Amenities
Sunbeds, umbrellas, and several beach bars line the sand. Panormos has the densest concentration of food and drink options of any beach on the island, including a small supermarket for self-catering travellers.
Best time & local tip
A sunset swim here is one of the better quiet rituals on the island. The bay faces west, and the light over the water in the last hour before dusk is hard to beat. For the calmest water and best light, aim for the early evening when the beach bars settle into a relaxed sunset rhythm.
Nearby route
Adrina Beach, the island’s only Blue Flag-rated beach, sits just around the headland. Milia is about 1–2km further north, with Kastani within easy reach by car a little beyond that.
